Children living in underserved communities in North Carolina are particularly at risk for adverse health outcomes. National standards and state child care rules encourage supportive breastfeeding practices and reflect an understanding of potential benefits on lifelong health. This training provides child care professionals with tools to support families that choose to breastfeed. Participants will be guided through steps to becoming a Breastfeeding-Friendly Child Care site, review the new application for the state designation program, learn how to support business practices and learn about the important role child care plays in continuity of care. This training is appropriate for TA practitioners, child care providers, and center administrators. The training and the included toolkit materials are available through the ENRICH Carolinas project funded by The Duke Endowment.
