Believe in the power of dreams

We've been around now for ten years, a decade of service to Henderson County.  We started with dreams, put the dreams on paper, and then built an infrastructure to make the dreams come true for our children and families.

A big part of putting our dreams on paper was defining our Mission:  first, to promote the well-being of children by advocating for them and their families.  To ensure that children are educated, healthy and safe, the Children & Family Resource Center stepped out of its established role of providing great service to lead the way in uniting the entire community to solve problems that transcend any one agency.   The "Speak Out for Kids" event in October 2007 brought together 280 residents and 62 member agencies.

The second part of our mission is to promote the well-being of children by facilitating coordination and collaboration among children's programs.  Our new Center, completed in 2005, united several agencies and multiple programs under one roof, creating a "one-stop-shop" for our families.   This innovative business model allows for shared costs, resources, and synergy, creating greater efficiency in operation as well as greater access and ease for families needing services.

The third part of our mission is to promote the well-being of children by providing programs and services for them and their families.  We offer amazing research based programs and touch the lives of over 6,000 children and family members in Henderson County every year.  The success stories are real.

The Children & Family Resource Center turns ten years old in 2009.  A tenth anniversary is traditionally represented by the pliability of tin or aluminum, symbols of how a successful relationship needs to be flexible and durable.  How it can be bent without being broken.  Although we've proven our flexibility and durability for ten years, our trail-blazing will now lead us into a new decade.  While many of our dreams have come true, we remain strategically committed to the challenges of the future.  I urge you to continue your journey with us - we need you to help us keep these dreams alive.
