Classroom & Behavior Management

A healthy foundation of strong social and emotional skills is essential for children’s overall development and success in school. Researchers have drawn a clear link between the complex behavioral problems that more and more children are experiencing and the difficulties they face in school and life.

Such problems include serious disorders such as Autism and ADHD, but also non-specific problems with a variety of troubling symptoms: hitting, kicking, biting, grabbing, bullying, defying authority, controlling peers, sexually acting out, withdrawal, clinging, inattention, separation, attachment difficulties, and more. Chronic behavior problems often result in a child being asked to leave a child care program. This creates lack of stability for the child. A recent study on pre-kindergarten programs indicated that programs assisting teachers to manage children’s behavioral problems are the only methods found to reduce the high rate of de-enrollment.
